Advert research

Web banners

This banner caught my eye mainly because of the aqua blue and white colours which are bright and helps draw attention to it, i also like the little sections which show sports related items and activities that shows an active organization.

The banner here is for a music festival. i chose this banner because of the bright summer-like colours. i especially like the Volkswagen van in the middle, the tents, stage and the instruments which help give out the message that its a music festival.

I like this banner because of the coloured stripes behind the Grey-scale photos which helps draw the eye to the banner, i think that the colourful stripes in the background complements the foregrounds content.

Magazine adverts

This ad caught my attention mainly because of the icy colours which gives it a cold feeling, this gives off a signal that the drink advertised is best served chilled. the crystal near the bottom also shows that it is a clear drink.

This one caught my attention mainly because of the vibrant colours in the flames behind the box and the text which is striking with the background which obviously draws attention to it.

I especially like this one mainly because of the clenched fist in the middle and the shapes which border the advert and the text. I also like the red, yellow and orange colours of the backdrops and the curly shapes which give it a vibrant feel that helps to make it stand out.

Guerrilla Advertising

This form of advertising caught my eye because of the arm sticking out of this taxis boot advertising the mob themed TV show "The Sopranos". the adverts strong point is in the shock value which would help attract attention of the public and most likely surprise them.

In this ad stickers are placed on the mirrors of parked cars to help raise awareness of bike safety. again, like the advert above it uses shock value to send its message across which i think is very effective.

This advert here is my favorite mainly because of the clever representation of people as fleas, this one is placed in a shopping centre which helps broadcast the message better as there are more people walking about. another thing i like is that you wouldn't notice the ad unless you were paying attention to it.

TV advertising

Sony Bravia TV
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oP5J4W5GQ3w

This advert is for Sony's LCD TV, in the ad thousands of multi-coloured bouncy ball are let loose on the hilled streets of San Fransisco. i chose this ad because of the use of colour which makes it advertise the products' visual capabilities without bogging the views down with facts and statistics. I also liked the music mainly because it is very relaxing and slow.

"The cog" Honda advert
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ve4M4UsJQo

This is one of my favorite adverts, the reason i like this is because it uses all the parts of a car to make a Rube Goldberg device, it is a very long winded and complicated device which ultimately ends up doing a very simple thing which in this case is closing the boot of the car. i also like how it ends when the car rolls of the platform.

 Sony "Bunny" advert
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJmBdZ9czO8&feature=related

I especially like this advert mainly because of stop-motion animation. the advert starts with a few tiny coloured bunnies hopping around New York, they gradually get bigger and multiply until there are hundreds of them. The bunnies then merge to form a huge wave which collapses and then breaks into chunks, the advert ends when a huge red rabbit breaks down into multi-coloured cubes. i also like that during the ad you can see bystanders looking in amazement at the horde of bunnies.
